HUMBOLDT-VIADRINA Governance Platform

On 17th July 2014, in association with other partners, the Canopus Foundation founded the HUMBOLDT-VIADRINA Governance Platform (HVGP) gGmbH in Berlin. The charitable enterprise builds on the methodology and project experience of the former HUMBOLDT-VIADRINA School of Governance.

Their mission “is the support of democratic processes and well-grounded Governance strategies in Germany, Europe, and the world, the support of cooperation between various actors in society with sciences and the media in order to enable understanding through discussion-based exchange to further a sustainable economy and politics, and to strengthen transparency, democratic participation, and citizens’ responsibility. This is to occur within the scope of transdisciplinarity, i.e. the merging of know-how of the knowledge society with the methodically proven knowledge of science, in order to find solutions to challenges and problems of the present through mutual exchange. A particular focus is set on global democratization and Good Governance projects, which are suitable for theoretically and practically advancing democracy in Germany, the EU, and the world.”

In 2015 and 2017, together with the HVGP, the Canopus Foundation organized three “Economic Trialogues” on the subject of the “Special German path? An assessment of the current situation of economic policy and economic sciences in Germany”, in which representatives from various economic schools of thought were brought together in dialogues with representatives from politics, business, media, and civil society.
