Supporting social enterprises
As a private charitable foundation the Canopus Foundation follows the concept of “venture philanthropy”. The term is not exactly defined, but basically it takes concepts and techniques from venture capital finance and business management and applies them to achieving philanthropic goals. Venture capital is invested in new and promising social enterprises in order to support them in a long-term partnership. They should possibly be economically self-supporting and be able to increase their social and ecological value. The funding by Canopus exceeds mere financial support. If required, the foundation provides management skills, market know-how, and technical knowledge.
